Blessed Franz Jagerstatter
Blessed Franz Jagerstatter (1907-1943) was an Austrian farmer and martyr who became famous for his refusal to serve in Hitler’s army during World War II. Despite immense pressure, including from his community and family, Jägerstätter resisted conscription, citing his Catholic faith and moral convictions. His decision led to his arrest, and he was executed by the Nazis in 1943. Beatified by the Catholic Church in 2007, Jägerstätter is remembered for his unwavering commitment to conscience and the sanctity of life, serving as an example of courage in the face of tyranny. He is the patron saint of conscientious objectors. Feast Day: May 21.

All of my portraits of saints original drawings were created with black Prismacolor pencils. This media choice was to insure a maximum contrast of black and white rather than the grey of graphite. The benefit is that all of my saint prints are the exact same size and contrast as the original drawing.
