St. Benedict

$25.00

St. Benedict, (480-543 AD) brother of St. Scholastica, and founder of the Order of St. Benedict, is the patron saint of Europe and is also widely known as the Father of Western Monasticism. The Rule of St. Benedict, his guidelines for living a balanced, holy life that gradually developed in the 6th century would eventually be the guide for all of Monasticism in the West. Even though it was written for the monks, its simple call to holiness in the ordinary rhythm of the day, of living with one’s mind on Jesus in our prayer, work, charity and community life, has become an invitation to all who hear it. St. Benedict’s feast day is July 11.

All of my portraits of saints original drawings were created with black Prismacolor pencils. This media choice was to insure a maximum contrast of black and white rather than the grey of graphite. The benefit is that all of my saint prints are the exact same size and contrast as the original drawing.
