St. Bridget (Brigid in Gaelic) (451-525 AD) is the patron saint of midwives, newborn babies, and of Ireland (along with St. Patrick and St. Columba) In the 5th century, St. Bridget founded two monastic institutions and a school of art that trained in metalwork and manuscript illumination. Her feast day is February 1.

All of my portraits of saints original drawings were created with black Prismacolor pencils. This media choice was to insure a maximum contrast of black and white rather than the grey of graphite. The benefit is that all of my saint prints are the exact same size and contrast as the original drawing.
