St. Jerome (c. 347–420 AD) was a priest, theologian, and scholar best known for translating the Bible into Latin, a version known as the Vulgate. Born in what is now Croatia, he was well-educated and spent much of his life studying languages and scriptures. Jerome's translation of the Bible helped make the sacred texts more accessible to the Western Christian world. He was also a prolific writer, producing biblical commentaries and letters. Jerome is recognized as one of the Four Doctors of the Church for his contributions to Christian theology and biblical scholarship.

Jerome is the patron saint of archaeologists, translators, scholars and librarians. His feast day is September 30.

All of my portraits of saints original drawings were created with black Prismacolor pencils. This media choice was to insure a maximum contrast of black and white rather than the grey of graphite. The benefit is that all of my saint prints are the exact same size and contrast as the original drawing.
