St. Philip Neri

$25.00

St. Philip Neri (1515-1595) was a gifted orator who is widely remembered for his notable gifts of wisdom, humor and joy. Born in Florence, he spent most of his adult life as a public figure in Rome, both before and after his ordination to the priesthood, routinely striking up conversation with the rich and the poor alike, leading many toward a “new and better way of life” as followers of Jesus. St. Philip Neri is the patron saint of humor and joy, and my brief summary hardly introduces the story of this brilliant and holy man. His feast day is May 26.

"Cheerfulness strengthens the heart and makes us persevere in a good life. Therefore the servant of God ought always to be in good spirits."

All of my portraits of saints original drawings were created with black Prismacolor pencils. This media choice was to insure a maximum contrast of black and white rather than the grey of graphite. The benefit is that all of my saint prints are the exact same size and contrast as the original drawing.
