St. Sebastian

$25.00

St. Sebastian, (255-288 AD) according to tradition, was a Roman soldier and a Christian during the persecution of Emperor Diocletian. He was tied to a tree, shot full of arrows as target practice, and left for dead but survived and was nursed back to health by St. Irene of Rome. After confronting the Emperor with a very public criticism of his persecution of Christians, Sebastian did not survive his second execution ordered by Diocletian. Sebastian is the patron saint of soldiers, athletes, and those who desire a saintly death. His feast day is January 20.

All of my portraits of saints original drawings were created with black Prismacolor pencils. This media choice was to insure a maximum contrast of black and white rather than the grey of graphite. The benefit is that all of my saint prints are the exact same size and contrast as the original drawing.
