St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross
St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein, 1891-1942) was a convert from Judaism and later entered the Carmelite order. Among her philosophical dissertations, those about women and education may be her best known. Edith Stein was executed at the Nazi concentration camp of Auschwitz on August 9th, 1942. She is the patron saint of Europe and those who lost parents. Her feast day is August 9.

All of my portraits of saints original drawings were created with black Prismacolor pencils. This media choice was to insure a maximum contrast of black and white rather than the grey of graphite. The benefit is that all of my saint prints are the exact same size and contrast as the original drawing.
