Venerable Matt Talbot

$25.00

The life and conversion of Matt Talbot (1856-1925) is an inspiration to many, and to others, he is a hero yet to be discovered. After years of alcohol abuse, Matt made his way to confession, and made a pledge, that day, of sobriety for three months. Through great suffering and temptation he stayed true to that pledge and within a year extended the pledge for life, never touching alcohol again over his last 41 years while living a life of prayer, penance and hard work. Upon his death in 1925, penitential chains were found on his body. Matt Talbot is the patron saint of alcoholics and sobriety. His feast day is June 19.

All of my portraits of saints original drawings were created with black Prismacolor pencils. This media choice was to insure a maximum contrast of black and white rather than the grey of graphite. The benefit is that all of my saint prints are the exact same size and contrast as the original drawing.
